Fisherman of all ages making memories at the RGV REEF off South Padre Island,TX

The Snapper Tagging Kings, Capt. Bryan Ray and RGV Reef Cooperative Tagging program sponsor Max Nichols. Brian has tagged 280 snappers with his “Ray” marked tags, more than any other tagger. Surprise surprise, out fishing with folks from BNSF (they donate and ship us all those concrete railroad ties) we caught one of his tagged fish last week.
UTRGV Marine Biologist Dr. Kline‘s crew headed up by grad student Marybeth Weihbrecht and friends have also done an outstanding job trapping and tagging the little littles and is standing by to answer the phone # on the tag to make recapture info. Where caught, length and weight can tell us lot about how to best structure our reef to grow lots of fish. Thanks to all the other tagging volunteers for making the program a great success, we have about 1500 tags out.
